A Brockton man was arrested last week after he allegedly stole a vehicle with two dogs inside from a McDonald’s parking lot.
At about 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Weymouth officers responded to the McDonald’s at 701 Bridge St. following a report of a stolen vehicle, according to the department.
The owner of the vehicle said her 2011 Nissan Frontier was stolen while she was picking up food. The car was unlocked with the keys and two French bulldogs inside, she told police.
On Friday, police discovered an online sales listing for the stolen pickup truck. They located the vehicle in Brockton and arrested the suspect at the scene.
The French bulldogs were still inside the “hot” vehicle. “The dogs were checked by Brockton animal control and released to the Weymouth police,” police said.
The suspect — Marcus Morse, 29 — was charged with larceny of a motor vehicle, receiving a stolen motor vehicle, two counts of larceny of property over $1,200, two counts of animal cruelty, and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
Morse also had two outstanding warrants for violation of an abuse prevention order and for use of a motor vehicle without authority and unlicensed operation of a vehicle.
He was held and set to be arraigned in Quincy District Court on Monday.
