A mother was arrested Sunday morning after her toddler was found deceased inside a vehicle, Maine State Police said
Penobscot County Sheriff’s officers found a 3-year-old girl deceased inside a vehicle Saturday evening, State Police said in a release. The car was found near a Milford business, officials said.
Officers found Kelly Brown, the toddler’s mother, nearby, police said.
Brown, 40, was arrested by State Police early Sunday morning and charged with manslaughter, the release said.
Brown, of Havertown, Pennsylvania, and her daughter had been the subjects of a previous issued welfare check at the request of family members, according to police.
Brown will be held at Penobscot County Jail until her appearance at the Penobscot Judicial Center, officials said.
The child will be taken to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta where an autopsy will be performed, police said.
State Police said the death was an isolated incident with no public safety concerns.
