A 23-year-old Londonderry, New Hampshire, man is facing a number of charges after he was allegedly involved in a fatal crash Thursday while driving a Ford F-150 pickup truck drunk.
Ryan Dooley’s truck collided with a Honda Civic at about 6:30 p.m. near 63 Hall Road in Londonderry, local police said in a release.
The crash entrapped the Civic’s driver and passenger in their vehicle, and officers applied a tourniquet to the driver’s leg before firefighters arrived and freed them. The driver was then taken to Elliot Hospital in Manchester for serious injuries, and they were in critical but stable condition as of Friday morning, police said. The passenger was medflighted to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, where they were pronounced dead.
Dooley “was out of his vehicle and appeared uninjured” when officers arrived, according to the release. “While speaking with him, officers observed signs of intoxication,” police said.
Police didn’t provide details of what led up to the crash but said “preliminary findings indicate that both speed and alcohol appear to be contributing factors in the collision.”
Dooley was arrested and initially charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, reckless conduct with a deadly weapon (two counts), reckless operation, and driving while intoxicated. Police then added two charges — negligent homicide DUI and negligent homicide — Friday morning.
Dooley was held pending his Friday arraignment in Derry District Court.
