A Maine man has pleaded guilty to lacing ice cream with THC that was then served to four customers at a cafe in New Hampshire.

Marc Flore, 45, of Portland, pleaded guilty Monday to one count of tampering with consumer products in a Concord federal court, according to the New Hampshire U.S. Attorney’s Office.

In September 2022, Flore reportedly made a batch of coffee Oreo THC-laced ice cream only intended for his personal use and put it in a freezer with other ice cream meant for commercial use without labeling it.

Then, in March 2023, four customers were served the THC-laced ice cream made by Angelo’s Amore, the ice cream company owned by Flore at the time. The ice cream was unknowingly sold from Roots Cafe in Newmarket, New Hampshire.

“All four experienced dizziness, elevated heart rate, vomiting, and three of the four were briefly hospitalized,” authorities said.

Following the incident, Roots Cafe stopped purchasing ice cream from Angelo’s Amore, which reportedly went out of business.

Flore is set to be sentenced in federal court on Nov. 4.
