16-year-old injured in Dracut shooting

The teenager sustained a leg wound that was not considered life-threatening.

A teenager is in the hospital with a leg injury after a shooting in Dracut on Friday, authorities said.

Dracut police responded to reports of “gunshots and suspicious activity” in the area of 101 Broadway Road at 4:30 a.m., according to a statement from the department.

Officers said they found evidence of gunfire in the parking lot of the area and soon located a 16-year-old with a gunshot wound at Lowell General Hospital.

The teen, who sustained a leg wound that was not considered life-threatening, had been transported to the hospital by friends, authorities noted.

Authorities could not confirm whether those involved in the shooting knew each other. It was not clear if police had a suspect as of Friday afternoon. Boston.com has reached out for more information.
