Investigators on the North Shore are searching for a man who allegedly used a knife to attack a woman at a Nahant Beach bath house.
Massachusetts State Police on Friday shared details of the incident, which allegedly happened on Tuesday around 9:30 p.m. in the area of the Ward Bath House. Investigators said they received a 911 call after people nearby heard a woman yelling for help.
Troopers and Nahant police officers arrived at the scene and found a female victim who told them a man allegedly threw her to the ground, dragged her a short distance, and used a sharp object to cut her hand and leg. The woman successfully fought him off, but he fled on a bicycle when she cried for help, according to authorities.
EMS responded to the scene to help the victim. Police did not release details about her condition.
Police issued a “be on the lookout,” or BOLO, to the surrounding communities with a description of the suspect. However, a description was not provided to the public.
“This is a reminder to everyone that while we strive to be proactive in our patrols, Nahant is not impervious to crime,” Nahant police said Thursday in a Facebook post. “We remind everyone that people should be aware of their location at all times and exercise good situational awareness in their surroundings.”
The incident is under investigation by Troopers assigned to the Revere Barracks and the Troop A Detective Unit. Anyone with information should call the Revere Barracks at 781-284-0038.
