Police: Man with knife dragged woman into bushes in Nahant

The incident remained under investigation Friday.

The Nahant Police Department reports that a man with a knife dragged a woman into the bushes there on Tuesday night.

In a release posted to Facebook, the police say they received a report at 9 p.m. of an assault in the area of the Department of Conservation and Recreation Halfway Bathhouse, which is located on Nahant Road next to the beach in the North Shore town.

Officers determined the woman was dragged into the bushes by a man armed with a knife.

The woman sustained non-life-threatening lacerations.

The police say the suspect fled the scene.

The incident remains under investigation by the Massachusetts State Police, which did not return a request for further information on Friday.

“This is a reminder to everyone that while we strive to be proactive in our patrols, Nahant is not impervious to crime,” the post said. “We remind everyone that people should be aware of their location at all times and exercise good situational awareness.”
