Just before 3 p.m., officers responded to a report of a person shot in the area of 107 Munroe St., according to police. At the scene, they found Bettencourt suffering from a gunshot wound.
Bettencourt was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced dead, police said.
