Boston police arrested a Mattapan man early Tuesday morning after a domestic violence incident in which three people were shot, including a 4-year-old, and another was stabbed.
Police arrested Calvin Stokes, 46, on charges of being an armed career criminal, four counts of assault with intent to murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (knife), unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling.
Police say Stokes will be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
At around 11:14 p.m., Boston officers responded to a radio call for a person shot in the area of 33 Regis Road in Mattapan.
Police say that on arrival, they found four people suffering from serious but not life-threatening injuries.
A 47-year-old woman, a 16-year-old girl, and a 4-year-old boy had gunshot wounds. An 18-year-old woman was suffering from a stab wound.
First responders transported all four victims to a local hospital for treatment.
Officers gathered information about the suspect, including a description of a vehicle, and initiated a citywide search.
Police report that at 3:03 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop at 144 Rowe St. in Rosindale, resulting in the arrest of Stokes.
“There is no excuse for domestic violence,” a Boston police release said. “You are not alone, and no one deserves to be harmed.”
