Police in Franklin are investigating after they were notified of at least two anti-Semitic vandalism incidents Wednesday.
Franklin police were notified Wednesday that a sign at the Temple Etz Chaim on Washington Street had been vandalized, the department said in a press release.
Red paint had been applied to a “We Stand With Israel” yard sign and a light and solar panel that illuminated the sign, according to police. The solar panel was also partially torn from its mounting bracket, the release said.
Police believe that the vandalism occurred between 8:30 p.m. Tuesday and 8 a.m. Wednesday.
That same day, police investigated a swastika symbol that had been spray-painted on the ground in black spray paint near the sidewalk on East Central Street in Franklin. This vandalism likely occurred between 8 p.m. Tuesday night and 6 a.m. Wednesday morning, police said.
There is currently no evidence that the two incidents are related, the department said, but both acts of vandalism are still under investigation.
The Franklin Police Department is asking anyone with information to contact Detective Jack Flynn at 508-440-2720 or [email protected].
