Two young people were fatally shot during a fight at a Brockton mall Saturday night, the Plymouth District Attorney’s Office said Sunday.
Brockton police responded to the Westgate Mall parking lot at around 7 p.m. Saturday night for reports of “several teens fighting,” Plymouth District Attorney Tim Cruz said on X.
The victims include a 15-year-old boy and an 18-year-old woman, the DA’s office said. The 15-year-old was shot outside a Chipotle restaurant, and the 18-year-old was shot in front of a nearby Starbucks, according to WCVB.
The victims have not yet been publicly identified, nor have any arrests been announced as of Sunday evening. One of the victims was a student at Champion High School in Brockton, according to the local school district.
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of a Champion High School student following an incident of violence in our community yesterday,” Brockton Public Schools said in a statement Sunday. “We are working to support their family however we can and will be making resources available to students and staff grieving this loss.”
An investigation into the shooting is currently active, according to the DA’s office.
