Armed suspects dressed as city workers invaded home in Dorchester, police say

Police have made no arrests, and the case remains under investigation.

Boston police say two suspects are still on the loose following an attempted armed home invasion of an elderly resident in Dorchester on Monday.

An older man told police that late Monday afternoon, two unknown men knocked on the door of his third-floor apartment on Adams Street. After he opened the door, the two men, one wearing a yellow construction worker jacket, entered his apartment.

One man allegedly pushed the victim down on a bed in the living room while the other attempted to tie his ankles together with a clear plastic bag that was on the floor.

The victim told police that he resisted the two men and fought to keep his hands free. One of the suspects attempted to place a piece of duct tape over his mouth, he said.

The victim said he was able to break free from the plastic bag, when one of the men brandished a firearm and pointed it directly at his head. As he continued to struggle, the other man fled the apartment, pushing the man holding the gun to the side of the bed. The man then picked up a fan from the floor and threw it at the victim before fleeing as well.

The victim told police he then secured the door.

The man told police he sustained bruising on both of his hands and wrists, light bruising on his face, and a few cuts on his right ear from the incident. He declined medical assistance from Boston EMS.

Officers viewed security footage showing the two suspects on Adams Street entering the building through the front door at about 4:24 p.m. The video footage shows the men entering the elevator inside the front hall and going to the apartment’s third-floor door. At about 4:30 p.m., they exit the building down the rear staircase outside onto Whitten Street.

Police reviewed video footage showing that one of the suspects is a white man with a heavy build. He wore a neon yellow jacket over a black hooded sweatshirt with an American flag print on the front. He wore a white hard-top helmet, dark jeans, black sneakers, a mask over his face, and a black string cinch bag.

The second suspect is a skinny, light-skinned man who was wearing a reversible navy blue, white, and red knit Red Sox winter hat, police said. He also wore a black puffer jacket, dark blue jeans, black sneakers, and a black medical mask over his face.

Boston police officers also spoke to a bystander who saw one of the suspects wearing the same high visibility neon yellow jacket and white hard hat at about 8:30 a.m. at the corner of Adams and Whitten streets.
