A 53-year-old woman was found dead in her Avon home Tuesday afternoon, and her 22-year-old son was then arrested for her murder, officials say.
Avon police and fire officials responded at 4:22 p.m. to the Nichols Avenue home after a 911 call “from a household member about an unresponsive female in need of medical assistance,” according to a statement from the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office.
First responders found the woman, later identified as Astrid Joseph, on the floor with “visible injuries,” and there were signs of struggle, according to the statement. Joseph was determined to be dead at the scene.
Police later found and arrested Thaddeus Joseph, the woman’s son, around 8 p.m. They lived together in the home, officials said.
“With information developed by the state police detectives assigned to the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office and Avon police, a suspect was identified and apprehended with the help of Braintree police,” Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey said in the statement.
Thaddeus Joseph, who was charged with murder, was expected to be arraigned in Stoughton District Court on Wednesday morning.
