Two Plymouth women were indicted Friday for allegedly being involved in an “organized retail crime ring,” stealing from stores across Massachusetts, officials said.
Johana Margarita Luis Quispe, 34, and Brenda Ampudia Tocto, 28, were indicted in Plymouth County Superior Court for one count each of aggravated organized retail crime and larceny over $1,200, according to a statement from the Plymouth County District Attorney’s office.
Plymouth police received a call from an Ulta Beauty on Colony Place on Aug. 31, 2024, for a larceny report. The store’s manager reported that two females and a male entered the store and allegedly stole 34 bottles of fragrance totaling $1,443.72, according to the statement.
Security cameras showed two people in the fragrance section placing bottles into a specially lined bag to avoid setting off theft detectors.
Quispe pleaded not guilty to similar charges in 2024 and had bail set to $100,000 on the condition she surrendered her passport. Tocto is currently in custody in Michigan for charges outside of the state, according to the statement.
The pair’s arraignment is scheduled for a later date.
