A Lowell man was ordered held on $1 million bail Wednesday after being charged with raping a girl for five years, officials said.
In May 2024, the victim, 10 years old at the time, alleged that Maynor Francisco Hernandez-Rodas, 38, had assaulted her repeatedly from the age of 5 at various locations in Chelsea, Lowell, and Lynn, the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office said in a statement.
Hernandez-Rodas is charged with four counts of aggravated rape of a child, three counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14, and one count of enticing a child under 16, according to the statement.
Authorities said Hernandez-Rodas is being charged with similar crimes against the same victim in Middlesex County.
Enforcement and Removal Operations Boston arrested Hernandez-Rodas, a Guatemalan national, on Sept. 20 in Lowell, according to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Hernandez-Rodas allegedly “unlawfully entered the United States on an unknown date, at an unknown location and without inspection, admission or parole by a U.S. immigration official,” according to ICE.
A Suffolk County grand jury indicted Hernandez-Rodas on Dec. 11, the attorney’s office said. He is due back in court March 5 for a pre-trial hearing.
“We take great care when dealing with such young victims of any type of crime, particularly sexual crimes,” Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden said in the statement. “Our expert and caring prosecutors, investigators and victim advocates will help this survivor and her family throughout the entire judicial process.”
