An Everett man was arrested after a video allegedly showed him holding down a cat and repeatedly striking it with a belt.
Everett police said in a statement that a concerned citizen came into the police station a little after 9 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, with a video of the incident, which police said took place at 615 Broadway.
Hector Quijada-Portillo, 44, was placed in custody and is facing animal cruelty charges and additional charges on an outstanding warrant, police said, while the cat was safely secured by Everett’s animal control officer.
Quijada-Portillo was expected to be arraigned on Monday in Malden District Court.
