A West Roxbury teenager is being held without bail after he and two others allegedly brandished weapons and stole an iPhone and several items of luxury clothing during a home invasion last month.
The 15-year-old boy was charged in Dorchester Juvenile Court Tuesday and faces counts of armed robbery and home invasion, the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office said in a news release. Authorities did not identify the teen, who is due back in court Jan. 10 for a dangerousness hearing.
Prosecutors have also asked the court to revoke the teen’s bail on two open cases, though a judge delayed ruling on that request pending the Jan. 10 hearing, the DA’s office said.
Prosecutors allege the teen and two other male accomplices entered a home on Weld Street in West Roxbury around 1 p.m. Nov. 17, prompting a man inside the home to seek refuge in a second-floor bedroom, according to the news release. The teen and his purported accomplices followed, one of them allegedly pulling out a handgun and the two others brandishing knives, according to the DA’s office.
“The male with the handgun told the victim, ‘Give me all your stuff or I’m gonna shoot you and the dog,’” the DA’s office said, noting the alleged victim’s dog was in a crate in the living room at the time.
Prosecutors said the three purported intruders then stripped the alleged victim of his Spyder pants and stole his iPhone 13 and other belongings, including several pairs of luxury sneakers ranging from $120 Jordans to $1,000 Balenciaga shoes.
Boston police detectives identified the West Roxbury teen following a lengthy investigation that relied on neighborhood surveillance video and witness descriptions of the alleged intruders, the DA’s office said. Investigators are still seeking the other people who were allegedly involved, according to the release.
“I think anyone pondering this scenario can instantly understand the fear this victim must have felt as he endured this harrowing experience,” Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden said in a statement. “I’m thankful that neither the victim or his dog were injured in this incident and I’m grateful for the diligent work of Boston police detectives to identify the juvenile defendant.”
