A 20-year-old suffered life-threatening injuries when he was stabbed in the parking lot of a Salem mall.

A 20-year-old man is in critical condition following a stabbing outside of a mall in Salem, New Hampshire, on Thursday night.

Salem police received multiple 911 calls just after 8 p.m. reporting a stabbing in the parking lot of the Mall at Rockingham Park near the food court entrance. Upon arrival, officers found a man with a “significant stab wound” to his torso, according to a statement from police.

First responders placed a chest seal on the man’s wound and transported him to a local hospital. He was then airlifted to a Boston-area hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he remains in critical condition following surgery, according to police.

A vehicle spotted fleeing the scene with potential suspects was later found abandoned in Salem, according to the statement. Police executed a search warrant at a Londonderry residence and said they plan to execute several more warrants related to the investigation.

“At this time, it is believed that all parties involved in this incident have been identified and there is no ongoing threat to the public,” Salem police said in the statement. “This remains an active investigation and further details will be released in the coming days.”
