A Boston police officer was arrested on Christmas Day on domestic violence and steroid charges following an alleged disturbance at his Hull home.
Terrence Murray, 31, was charged with one count of assault and battery on a family or household member, one count of improper storage of a firearm, one count of vandalizing property, and two counts of possessing steroids and testosterone, which are class E drugs, according to a Boston Globe report. Murray pleaded not guilty to the charges at an arraignment Thursday.
According to court records, Murray returned home from working an overnight shift early Christmas morning when his fiancé asked him to help wrap gifts. Murray then allegedly threw a gift across the room, pushed his fiancé, and punched a hole in a door, according to officials. Children were asleep at the residence during the alleged incident.
Police were called to the residence just before 6 a.m., but Murray had left, and his fiancé declined medical attention, the Globe reported. She told officers that Murray was growing “increasingly angry and emotional.” Police returned at 11 a.m., arrested Murray, and searched for his firearm, according to the report.
In a search of the couple’s jeep, investigators found parts of Murray’s police uniform, ammunition, and a lock box containing more than three dozen doses of Anavar and four milliliters of testosterone, according to the Globe report.
Investigators said they also found Murray’s department-issued Glock, which was loaded and unlocked, with a round in the chamber.
Murray is a four-year veteran of the police department. He works in District 3 in Mattapan, but has been placed on administrative duty pending an investigation by the Boston Police Bureau of Standards, according to officials.
A judge set Murray’s bond at $5,000 and prohibited him from possessing a firearm. He is due back in court for a hearing on Feb. 7.
