Three men are facing charges following a fight that broke out at a 2-year-old’s birthday party in Webster last month, authorities announced Sunday.
On Nov. 30 at 8:15 p.m., Webster police responded to a report of a large fight in the street at 23 Everett Ave. in Webster, according to a statement from police.
At the scene, officers were able to settle the disturbance and get those involved to return to their apartment, police said.
But 10 minutes later, authorities said they received another call reporting disturbances at the same address in an apartment on the second floor.
Police said they saw evidence of a fight inside the residence where they said suspects were attending a 2-year-old’s birthday party.
As police were investigating, a man, identified as Jordan Campos, allegedly entered the apartment and tried to attack another man, authorities said.
Officers tried to hold Campos back, but in the midst of the altercation, he allegedly hit an officer in his upper torso area and grabbed hold of his right pocket. Police used defensive tactics including a taser to arrest Campos.
As this was happening, officials said more people came into the apartment and tried to interfere with the arrest. Authorities said two more officers were assaulted. They requested mutual aid assistance as the situation became “very dangerous,” police said.
Amid the fight, authorities made numerous attempts to get updates from the officers at the scene, but with no radio response, dispatchers broadcast an emergency request out to numerous area departments for assistance. Departments from Douglas, Auburn, Oxford, Dudley, Southbridge, Sutton, Leicester and Worcester, and the Massachusetts State Police responded to the scene.
Campos, 27, of Worcester was charged with disorderly conduct (subsequent offense), disturbing the peace, resisting arrest, assault and battery on a police officer (three counts), and attempting to disarm a police officer.
Marylin Lopez, 27, of Webster was charged with assault and battery on a police officer, resisting arrest, disturbing the peace, disorderly conduct, and keeper of a disorderly household.
Franklin Baez, 28, of Worcester was charged with assault and battery on a police officer, resisting arrest, disturbing the peace, and disorderly conduct.
