2 charged with killing pet rabbit at Mass. party

The two suspects are accused of “brutally killing a pet rabbit during a party by slamming it on the ground and then throwing it outside," police said.

Two people were arrested Thursday on animal cruelty charges for allegedly “brutally killing” a pet rabbit during a party in Western Massachusetts, officials said.

Gabriel Nava, 20, of Chicopee and Alexey Dimoglo, 20, of West Springfield were taken into custody on warrants issued by Westfield District Court for an incident that took place Nov. 27 in Westfield, according to a statement from police.

The two suspects are accused of “brutally killing a pet rabbit during a party by slamming it on the ground and then throwing it outside,” the statement said.

Just last month, teenagers at a party in Canton allegedly trashed a house and kicked what appeared to be a dead rabbit inside the home, Boston.com previously reported.

Authorities said parts of this week’s incident were captured on video. The hosts of the party did not know Nava and Dimoglo, police said.

Both Nava and Dimoglo were arraigned at Westfield District Court after their arrest on charges of cruelty to an animal and malicious killing of a domestic animal.
