Maine authorities are investigating the murder of a Virginia man, whose body was found in the woods by a hunter last week.
The body of the man, later identified as William Nathaniel Robinson, 34, of Austinville, Virginia, was discovered by a hunter on Dec. 3 near the Schmid Land Preserve on Old County Road in Edgecomb, Maine State Police said in a statement. The hunter called 9-1-1 around 9:30 a.m. and state police responded to the scene.
An autopsy determined Robinson’s cause of death was a gunshot wound and ruled it a homicide, police said. The 34-year-old had been recently staying at a home in Edgecomb.
“There is no known danger to the public at this time,” police said on Monday.
The investigation into Robinson’s murder is ongoing, police said.
