A teenage boy was arrested after he allegedly shot a woman in South Boston Tuesday night, police said in a statement.
Officers responded near 8 Reverend Burke St. around 8:06 p.m. after they received a report of a person shot, the department said. There, police said, they found an adult woman suffering from a gunshot wound.
Boston Emergency Medical Services transported the victim to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.
An investigation into the shooting recovered ballistic evidence on the scene, according to the statement. In addition, police said the investigation led to a description of the suspect.
Using the description, the Youth Violence Strike Force searched the area and found the suspect near North Point Drive and Westwind Road.
The 15-year-old, who has not been publicly identified due to his status as a minor, faces delinquent charges of assault and battery with a gun, assault with a dangerous weapon, carrying a gun without a license, illegally possessing ammunition, and shooting a gun within 500 feet of a home, police said.
The suspect will be arraigned in Boston Juvenile Court, police said.
