A woman was stabbed to death in Roxbury on Saturday afternoon, the Boston Police Department said in a statement.
Police received reports of a person stabbed at Ramsay Park around 12:48 p.m., the statement said. Officers arrived at 1917 Washington Street, where police said they found one adult woman with “multiple stab wounds.”
“Boston EMS rendered aid on scene and transported the victim to a local hospital but she succumbed to her injuries,” the statement said. “She was pronounced deceased at 11:40 p.m.”
The victim was 60 years old, The Boston Globe reported.
The BPD Homicide Unit is actively conducting an investigation into the incident, the statement said. Police “strongly urge” anyone with information to contact the Homicide Unit at 617-343-4470, or send an anonymous tip at 1-800-494-TIPS.
Police also encouraged anyone in need of emotional support or who wants to talk to someone about distressing events to contact the Boston Neighborhood Trauma Team at 617-431-0125 for free and private support 24/7.
