Worcester police ask for help finding murder suspect

Police say Lino Menjivar, 30, allegedly killed a man in Worcester in April.

Police are searching for a suspect accused of a homicide in Worcester.

A wanted poster on Worcester Police Department social media says Lino Menjivar allegedly shot someone to death in April 2024. The poster said Menjivar should be considered armed and dangerous.

Court documents show officers received reports around 2:17 a.m. on April 13 of shots fired at 1 Allendale Street. When officers arrived, they found a man lying in the road suffering from “multiple apparent gunshot wounds,” documents said. Police said the victim was taken to a local hospital, where he died of his injuries.

Documents said officers used surveillance footage to find a car at the scene, which police say belonged to Menjivar’s roommate. The roommate allegedly told police that he had not seen Menjivar or the car since the day before the shooting, documents said.

Officers also found a witness, documents said, who told police he was with Menjivar the day before the shooting, and that the two would often park on Allendale Street to drink. Police said the witness told them Menjivar arrived at his house early in the morning of April 16 and told the witness he was “in trouble and needed to get away.”

“Menjivar further stated to the witness that a black male came up to him while Menjivar was sitting in his car on 04-13-2024,” documents said. “The male was circling Menjivar’s car and had his hand in his pocket as if he had a firearm. Menjivar told the witness that he shot the male while still in the car and emptied his clip.”

Worcester murder suspect allegedly fled to Virginia, police say

The document said Menjivar allegedly then asked the witness to drive him to Virginia, and the witness complied.

Police said they found the car on April 20. The driver told police that Menjivar gave him the car for free, documents show.

“Menjivar told the known operator that he had shot someone and didn’t want to worry about the vehicle anymore,” court documents said.

Menjivar faces charges of murder, carrying a gun without a license, carrying a loaded gun, and shooting a gun within 500 feet of a home. In the wanted poster, he is seen with a face tattoo above his left eyebrow. His last known location is Virginia, the poster says.

Worcester police urged anyone with information on Menjivar’s whereabouts to contact them at (508) 779-8651.
