A Marlborough woman was indicted for embezzling nearly $200,000 from a mental health nonprofit based in Keene, New Hampshire, officials say.
Christine Allen, now 50, was previously the executive director of Monadnock Peer Support, where she had full access to the nonprofit’s finances, according to charging documents.
Between January 2021 and May 2023, Allen embezzled almost $200,000 from the nonprofit, and used the stolen money to pay for personal expenses, including Amazon purchases and renovations for her home in Marlborough, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
“The fraudulent purchases included home and kitchen products, gaming equipment, hockey equipment, a meat cleaver, and a food dehydrator,” prosecutors said.
Allen, who has also gone by Christine Nowill and Christine Yardley, was indicted on four counts of wire fraud, according to authorities. She is scheduled to appear in federal court at a later date.
