Police arrested a man Sunday in connection with an investigation into an individual who had been slapping women from behind while riding a bike in a New Hampshire park, officials say.
Nashua police said they received five reports of a man who slapped women while riding his mountain bike on the Mine Falls Park trails, according to a statement from the department earlier this month. The incidents were reported between Oct. 11 and Oct. 16.
On Oct. 16, a woman told police that a man “approached her from behind, grabbed her by the hood of her sweatshirt, and pulled her down to the ground,” a statement from Nashua police said.
The suspect fled the area on his bike, but the victim’s friend took a photograph of the individual as he rode away.
Investigators then used video surveillance obtained from security systems to track the suspect to his address on Blossom Street shortly after the Oct. 16 assault.
Police identified the suspect as 30-year-old Shane Totman of Nashua and arrested him for simple assault — a Class A misdemeanor — on Sunday.
