A 23-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death of his 76-year-old grandmother, Cynthia Lanchester, according to Attorney General John M. Formella and New Hampshire State Police Colonel Mark B. Hall.
On Saturday around 11:41 a.m., police say 911 dispatchers received a phone call for a medical emergency at 44 North Peak Drive in Easton, New Hampshire.
When emergency officials arrived at the scene, they found Cynthia Lanchester lying on the ground dead, according to the statement.
Police noticed she appeared to be suffering from some sort of blunt-force trauma wound, officials said.
Police found Joshua Lanchester, 23, at the scene and arrested him, according to the statement. Officials said he is the victim’s grandson.
Joshua Lanchester was charged with one count of second-degree murder, according to the statement. He is currently being held without bail.
His arraignment is expected to occur on Monday in the 2nd Circuit Court-District Division in Littleton.
An autopsy was scheduled for Sunday. Police are continuing to investigate the incident, according to officials.
