State police arrested a Worcester man following an apparent road rage incident that turned dangerous when he allegedly fired a pellet gun into another vehicle on Thursday morning.
Daniel Ochoa, 39, pleaded not guilty in Worcester District Court to a charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, according to court documents. He was held on a $1,000 cash bail.
The court mandated Ochoa be taken to the Worcester County House of Corrections.
Before 7 a.m., Massachusetts State Police troopers responded to reports of a road rage incident on Route 146 in Millbury.
According to the State Police, further reports said the driver of a red Honda Civic fired a handgun at another motorist.
While canvassing the area, Millbury Police located the driver on River Street and detained Ochoa while troopers responded to the scene.
While searching Ochoa’s vehicle, troopers reported finding a black pellet gun that strongly resembled an actual firearm near the Honda.
Troopers also interviewed the alleged victim of the incident and found the passenger window of his car shattered.
Following a preliminary investigation, Massachusetts State Police arrested Ochoa. He is expected back in court on Oct. 15 for his pretrial date.
