Police arrested Edmund David Chance Jr., a Level 3 sex offender, on Thursday for failing to register with the Sex Offender Registry Board.
Chance, 53, was separately wanted for questioning in a Tuesday incident where a “suspicious man” driving in Marshfield’s Humarock neighborhood allegedly offered a 17-year-old girl who was jogging a ride in his car, a statement from Massachusetts State Police said.
When the teenage girl declined, the man followed her until she ran away and called the police, authorities said.
After initially finding Chance following the incident, Marshfield police later determined that he did not register when moving, which is required by law for Level 3 sex offenders, according to officials.
Scituate and Marshfield police then asked the public for help finding Chance.
Chance has been convicted of several charges in the past, authorities said, including rape and kidnapping.
Troopers found and arrested Chance in Hingham for his failure to register and took him to Hingham District Court to be arraigned.
