The Worcester Police Department is warning residents after a string of armed robberies targeting delivery drivers over the past week.
Suspects have approached pizza delivery drivers with guns drawn and demanded cash in three similar incidents in the past week, the department said in a statement.
The first of three incidents occurred on Aug. 12, police say. A delivery driver approached his drop-off point at Lund Street early in the morning when two suspects came up to him, the statement said. When the driver attempted to give the two men change for what he presumed to be their order, Worcester police said, the suspects pulled out a gun. They allegedly fled the scene with an “undetermined” amount of cash.
Police say the second incident occurred on Aug. 15. A different delivery driver was dropping off food at Doane Street around midnight. Suspects approached the driver and demanded keys to the driver’s car at gunpoint, the statement said. The suspects then stole the driver’s car, which had the driver’s personal belongings inside, according to Worcester police.
The most recent incident happened on Sunday, when armed suspects stole an iPhone and cash from a delivery driver, the statement said. The incident happened around 9:50 p.m. on Esther Street, according to police.
No injuries were reported in any of the robberies, police said. The department also said it is unclear if the same suspects were involved in all three robberies. An investigation is ongoing.
Anyone with information about any of the robberies can send an anonymous text to 274637 TIPWPD or send an anonymous web-based message at worcesterma.gov/police.
