Two people died in an incident at a North Andover home Monday, officials confirmed.
The Office of Essex County District Attorney Paul Tucker said one person died after they were transferred to the hospital with serious injuries from the home on Turnpike Street. The other was pronounced dead at the home.
The Eagle-Tribune said that initial reports indicated a mother and a young child were victims of a stabbing, possibly an infant, according to some of their sources. The newspaper said there was no immediate arrest or search for a suspect.
Tucker’s office did not comment on the circumstances of the incident or the identities or relationship of the victims.
“This is currently considered to be an isolated incident and authorities do not believe there is a wider threat to the public at this time,” the DA’s office said.
North Andover police, Massachusetts State police, and the DA are “in the early stages of an active investigation,” Tucker’s office said in a statement. They are asking the public to stay away from the scene.
No other information was immediately released.
This story was updated after the second victim died at the hospital.
