Authorities confirmed reports of shots fired in an alleged road rage incident near the MIT Sailing Pavilion on Memorial Drive in Cambridge on Sunday.

Massachusetts State Police responded to the scene around 5:15 p.m., a preliminary statement said. The two drivers, Cesar Gutierrez and Kevin Osorio, were involved in a case of road rage, a statement from State Police said.

Gutierrez allegedly hit Osorio with an object, the statement said. Then, Osorio took out a gun and fired several shots at Gutierrez and his car, according to State Police.

A social media post from a Boston25 reporter showed a car that appeared to have several bullet holes.

Osorio was licensed to carry a gun, police said.

Both men were taken to Massachusetts General Hospital with serious injuries, authorities said. They have both been arrested and will be charged “once they are medically able,” the statement said.
