A Falmouth woman was allegedly operating under the influence of alcohol Wednesday night and hit an officer with her car while leaving the “Dark Star Orchestra” concert in Hyannis, police say.
At about 10:40 p.m., a Barnstable Police Officer was directing traffic outside of the Cape Cod Melody Tent when a car allegedly struck his knee and flashlight, according to a statement from the Barnstable Police.
The Dark Star Orchestra is a “Grateful Dead live concert experience,” according to the band’s website.
The 45-year-old woman was ordered to pull her vehicle over and officers said they “detected an odor of alcohol on her breath”, “noticed that her eyes were red and glossy, and that she was slurring her speech,” the statement said.
The woman was placed under arrest and charged with operating under the influence of liquor and negligent operation of a motor vehicle, according to authorities.
The woman is expected to be arraigned in Barnstable District Court, police said, and the officer declined medical attention.
