A man attempted to rob an Attleboro store on Thursday. When he was unsuccessful, he attempted to light the store on fire, The Boston Globe reported.
The suspect walked into the Lucky Lotto convenience store in Attleboro around midnight. He walked through the store, then left to grab a beer bottle filled with liquid, the Globe reported. When he returned, the store clerk “confronted” the suspect.
He told the clerk he was there to rob the store, and threatened to burn the building down if the clerk did not comply, according to the Globe. The clerk refused to give him any money.
The suspect then left the store, emptied the bottle on the entrance rug, and lit it on fire, the Globe reported. After lighting the fire, he began running toward the Pawtucket, Rhode Island border. The clerk extinguished the fire.
Attleboro police are currently looking for the suspect, the Globe said. He was last seen wearing a black face mask and hooded sweatshirt with a white “Jordan” logo, black pants with white markings, black and white sneakers, and a small black backpack.
Anyone with information about the suspect or the incident can contact Attleboro police at (508) 222-1212.
