DA identifies Lowell family killed in murder-suicide

Steven Johns shot his wife, Kaydion Dawson, and their 7-year-old daughter before turning the gun on himself, officials said.

Authorities have identified the Lowell family who died in a murder-suicide last weekend.

Steven Johns, 52, called 911 early on April 27 to say that he shot his wife, Kaydion Dawson, 45, and their 7-year-old daughter inside a Warren Street apartment, according to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.

Johns then turned the gun on himself and died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, the DA’s office said. Police arrived at the apartment and found all three individuals dead inside.

Massachusetts State Police, the Lowell Police Department, and the DA’s office have launched an investigation into the shooting deaths.
