Four men charged in thefts across East Coast home improvement stores

The four men allegedly orchestrated many thefts, sometimes selling the goods across state lines for profit.

Four men from Guatemala have been charged for a slew of thefts from Home Depot and other home improvement stores.

The four men were allegedly part of a scheme to steal high-priced goods from home improvement stores in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and several other states and transport them across state lines to be sold. According to Rhode Island’s U.S. Attorney’s Office, the group may have participated in up to 30 thefts across New England and Pennsylvania. 

Marvin Estuardo Morales De Paz, 33, Abraham Dayger-Enrique, 24, Sebastian Lajuj-Soloman, 30, and Jonathan Josue Amperez-Perez, 31, were recently arrested. A search of homes in Cranston and Providence, Rhode Island, last week yielded approximately $11,000 worth of stolen goods, $83,000 in cash, and a 2019 Ford F150 truck, authorities said.

According to authorities, 15 Guatemalan nationals have been associated with the theft scheme, though not all regularly.
