Man shot in stomach during Methuen carjacking, police say

Dexon Justabe, 24, has been charged on multiple counts related to the incident, which left a 20-year-old man in critical condition Wednesday.

A Methuen man has been charged on multiple counts in connection to a carjacking that left one man in critical condition Wednesday, police said. 

Dexon Justabe, 24, was arrested and charged with multiple offenses including assault with intent to murder, armed carjacking, and assault with a dangerous weapon after he allegedly shot a victim while trying to steal his car, the Haverhill Police Department said in a statement

The incident happened at about 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday at a Hampton Inn located at 106 Bank Road, police said. Officers found a 20-year-old Lawrence man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his stomach at the scene.

The man was transported to a local hospital and listed in critical condition, according to police. 

Justabe is also charged with carrying a loaded firearm without a license, possession of a large capacity feeding device, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, and improper storage of a firearm.
