Lexington police investigating after child says someone tried to abduct them

The perpetrator, who is described as wearing all black and a black ski mask, grabbed the child from behind and placed a hand over the child’s mouth, according to the victim.

Police are investigating after a child said someone tried to abduct them in Lexington on Thursday, officials said

Lexington police responded to a house on Wood Star Street at about 2 p.m. Thursday, the department said in a statement.

“An elementary school-age child reported that they were playing in their backyard when they were grabbed from behind and had a hand placed over their mouth,” police said. 

The child was able to break away from the person who also ran away from the scene. 

The perpetrator is described as a man dressed in all black and wearing a black ski mask.

Lexington police said they are “thoroughly” investigating the incident and sharing details with local detective groups.
