An altercation between a Popeyes employee and and a customer over the wait time for food in Fall River ended with police arresting the worker for alleged assault and battery.
Fall River police responded to the restaurant at 933 Pleasant St. on Monday around 6:40 p.m. for what was initially – and inaccurately – reported as a fight involving knives, a department spokesman told Boston.com by email.

Instead, the staff member and customer argued over how long it took for the person to receive his food order, police noted. Following a verbal altercation, the employee allegedly threw a metal tray at the customer, which struck him above his left eye.
Police arrested the 19-year-old worker, Colby McCarthy, and charged him with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
The customer, a 22-year-old Fall River resident, was transported to a local hospital for medical attention, according to police.
In a statement to NBC 10 WJAR, a company representative for Popeyes said, “The safety of our guests is a top priority at Popeyes, and violence of any kind is not tolerated. The franchisee terminated the employee involved in the incident that occurred at the Fall River, MA restaurant, and is fully cooperating with authorities.”
