Police: Revere man arrested after dozens of firearms, fentanyl discovered in his possession

The Revere police chief said the man posed a “threat to the safety of the public."

Revere Police Department

Police arrested a man after discovering a “lethal and volatile mix” of nearly 30 guns and a stash of fentanyl in his possession.

Darrow DiBattista, 58, of Revere, was arrested and charged after police found he illegally possessed 18 rifles, 11 handguns, one large capacity feeding device, more than 3,000 rounds of ammunition, and 34 grams of fentanyl, Revere police said in a statement Thursday.

Revere police’s Narcotic and Gang Unit and the Suffolk County Sheriff’s office found the items after executing a search warrant, the statement said.

“The combination of narcotics and guns can create a lethal and volatile mix which can increase the risk to our community,” said Revere Police Chief David J. Callahan. “He was clearly a threat to the safety of the public.”

DiBattista was charged with trafficking fentanyl, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, 29 counts of unlawful possession of a firearms, possession of a large capacity feeding device, unlawful possession of ammunition, and improper storage of firearms, officials said.
