‘Suspicious’ deaths in New Hampshire being investigated as murder-suicide, police say

Autopsy results revealed a man possibly shot a woman in their residence before turning the gun on himself, officials said.

Autopsies on two adults who were discovered dead in their home this past weekend showed they died from gunshot wounds in a possible murder-suicide, officials said.

Jennifer L. Barrett, 47, and Charles W. Molinari, 41, were found dead in their New Hampshire home on Saturday afternoon, according to a statement by Attorney General John M. Formella and Salem Police Chief Joel Dolan.

Autopsies on the bodies, which were completed Monday, showed that Barrett died of a gunshot wound to the head. Molinari died of a single self-inflicted gunshot wound, the statement said.

The chief medical examiner ruled Barrett’s manner of death as homicide and Molinari’s manner of death as suicide.

“Although the investigation into the circumstances surrounding this incident remains active and ongoing, based on evidence gathered to date authorities are investigating this as a possible murder-suicide in which Mr. Molinari fatally shot Ms. Barrett before taking his own life,” Formella’s office said in a statement.
