Two teenagers were arrested yesterday in connection with several incidents of people being shot with a paintball gun.
David Asemani, 19, and a 16-year-old boy, who’s name was not released publicly, were arrested early Saturday morning in Worcester after allegedly shooting at multiple people with a paintball gun from a car, police said in a statement. Both are charged with multiple counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
On Feb. 9, Worcester Police officers received several reports about pedestrians being shot at with a paintball gun by the operator of a gray Honda Civic, officials said. Victims, who had paint on them when police responded, said that the vehicle had stopped near them and a male had fired paintballs at them.
An alert was put out at the time for the car based on available information.
At about 12:05 a.m. Saturday, an officer observed a vehicle quickly take a right turn from Pleasant Street to Hudson Street. The officer followed the vehicle and saw that the license plate matched the vehicle description.
The officer stopped the car on Townsend Street. As the officer approached the vehicle, a 16-year-old boy got out of the car and started running towards Pleasant Street. Asemani, who was driving the vehicle, had a suspended driver’s license and was placed under arrest, police said.
A paintball gun was found in the vehicle, according to officials.
