Authorities are seeking drivers’ dashcam footage in their search for the gunman who shot and killed a North Attleborough man on I-95 Saturday night.
Justin R. Parker, 37, was fatally wounded just before 10 p.m. Saturday as he was driving though Foxborough on I-95 South, according to Massachusetts State Police. Officials said someone in a black or dark-colored sedan fired multiple rounds at Parker’s car and drove off.
Now, state police are asking members of the public to come forward with any observations or video that could offer clues in the shooting. Specifically, detectives are seeking anyone who:
Investigators believe the driver merged onto I-95 South from one of those areas around 9:20 p.m., according to Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey.
“We are asking truck drivers, rideshare drivers, or anyone who employs a dashcam or who might otherwise have captured footage along those roadways during that time frame to contact us at 781-327-9801,” Morrissey said in a statement. “We have developed certain information that may help us to identify distinctive features on the car driven by the shooter.”
The DA added: “We are not asking people to go back through their video footage themselves and make determinations of any kind — we are asking them to call so that we can arrange to have police view the footage.”
Speaking with WBZ News, Parker’s friends described him as gentle and level-headed.
“He’s family-oriented, he put his daughter first,” Robbie Bonin, one of Parker’s best friends, told the news outlet.
According to Bonin, Parker wasn’t known for having fights or disagreements.
“He’s just a really lovable guy, and everybody looked up to him,” he told WBZ. “He was special. He really, really was.”
State police said Parker’s Mercedes-Benz sedan swerved into a family’s Lexus SUV following the shooting. The impact caused the SUV to roll over and crash in the woods off the side of the highway, though the DA’s office said the occupants didn’t sustain any injuries that warranted a trip to the hospital.
The SUV’s driver, Emelington Herrera, told Boston 25 News he’s still in shock following the crash, which happened as he was driving home to Providence with his wife and 1.5-year-old son.
“I don’t know how [this] could … happen on the highway,” Herrera told Boston 25. “They put innocent people’s lives in danger.”
