Lawrence police responded to a report of an altercation in the area of Newbury Street at approximately 4 p.m. Monday, officials said. Upon arrival, they located a man with stab wounds and an injured infant, who was not stabbed.
The incident is being investigated by Lawrence police and the Essex County District Attorney’s office. Officials said that the stabbing was not initially believed to be a random act of violence.
The nature of the infant’s injuries was not provided. Police said an unidentified second individual is in custody and will be arraigned on a future date.
