Gardner homicide victim ID’d as wife of ‘armed and dangerous’ man wanted by police

A 33-year-old man is wanted for questioning in connection with the death of his wife, who police found dead inside their home in Gardner Sunday morning, according to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office.

On Monday, the DA’s office said the death was considered a homicide and identified the victim as 30-year-old Breanne Pennington. Police are searching for her husband, Aaron Pennington, who Worcester County District Attorney Joseph Early Jr. said should be considered “armed and dangerous.” 

Gardner police responded to 42 Cherry St. for a report of a disturbance just before 9:15  a.m. Sunday morning and discovered the victim at the back of the house, Early said during a news conference Sunday evening. The DA’s office later confirmed that the home belongs to the Penningtons.

Four children, who lived in the home and have been confirmed as belonging to Breanne Pennington, left the house to go to a neighbor’s home before police arrived. Those children, aged 2, 5, 7, and 9, are now in the custody of the state Department of Children and Families, Early said. 

When asked Sunday evening whether Pennington was a suspect or a person of interest in the case, Early said he was both. He declined to give more information about the case.

Pennington is described as a white man with blonde hair and blue eyes, Early said. He is approximately 6-foot-2 and 175 pounds.

On Sunday, authorities believed Pennington was driving a white 2013 BMW Model 320 with a Massachusetts veteran’s license plate that reads 8A30. The DA’s office said Monday that he may be using two additional plates – a Texas plate that reads DTZ3103 or a California plate that reads 6CWN728.
