A skirmish after a baseball game on Tuesday in Worcester led to a teen being tased by a police officer and three people, including that teen, facing criminal charges, according to police.
Police report only one person sustained injuries in the initial brawl, and they were minor.
Things got physical after the game, police report, when the teams were shaking hands. Players and family members got involved, but police say the fight had ended by the time they arrived at the scene around 7:30 p.m.
The only person hurt was an adult male who was treated by the paramedics after sustaining minor injuries from being tackled, police say.
However, police say things escalated again after they arrived when a 17-year-old male became agitated. They say he was asking where the individual was who had punched his relative, before he started charging another group on the field.
He was repeatedly told to stop, police say, and when he looked like he would try to go around an officer to get to the other party, he was told he would be tased. An officer then tased him, fearing he was going to run past him and try to assault someone.
The 17-year-old was charged with assault and battery, disorderly conduct, and disturbing the peace, police say. A 22-year-old male and a 45-year-old male – both from Worcester – were also charged with assault and battery as a result of the investigation.
Authorities had not released any names as of Wednesday morning.
