A man is under arrest after an alleged assault at South Station on Friday morning.
Transit police at South Station received a radio call at 9:30 a.m. Friday concerning a man who had allegedly assaulted two women for no apparent reason, according to a statement from the MBTA Transit Police.
The two women, 53 and 63-years-old, had been reportedly kicked in the stomach. Officers noticed a “shoe imprint” on one of the victim’s shirts, according to the statement.
When the officers arrived at the track 1 area of South Station, “several witnesses were pointing to a male.” An unidentified person said, “That’s him.”
The man was later identified as Rasheed Underwood, a 34-year-old man of Lithonia, Georgia. Underwood was “uncooperative,” according to the statement. He was taken into custody and later charged with assault & battery with a dangerous weapon.
In the booking process, it was discovered that Underwood is wanted in New Bedford District Court for assault & battery and disturbing the peace.
