North End Regina Pizzeria employee allegedly punched over mask compliance

The patron allegedly attacked the worker Sunday evening, police said.

MASK BATTLES:

A customer allegedly punched a North End Regina Pizzeria employee in the face after being asked by the employee to wear a mask on Sunday.

Police responded to the pizzeria at 11 Thacher St. around 9:05 p.m. for a call about an assault, according to the police report.

The victim told police that about 10 minutes prior, someone came into the restaurant without a mask on. The alleged victim reportedly told the customer they needed to wear a mask to be inside, the report said.

The suspect then said that he was “from the neighborhood” and “pushed his way in,” according to the report. He then allegedly pushed the victim against the register and punched him on the left cheek, according to authorities.

The suspect, a white male believed to be in his mid-20s, took off down Margin Street, police said. Police are investigating and no arrests had been made as of Wednesday afternoon.

The victim declined medical attention.
