One dead after argument leads to alleged homicide in Malden

Joshua Roush, 43, was due in court on Monday.

One man is dead after an argument in Malden on Sunday night escalated into a murder, authorities allege.

Malden police responded around 10:06 p.m. to a residence in the Edgeworth neighborhood for a report of an injured person, according to the Middlesex County District Attorney’s office.

“Upon arrival, officers located a male victim on the sidewalk in front of the residence suffering from extensive sharp force injuries to his body and subsequently pronounced him deceased,” officials said in a statement.

The initial investigation suggests two men, who were known to each other, were arguing when one of them — armed with an unspecified weapon — attacked the other, the district attorney’s office said.

The incident is not believed to be random, authorities said.

The suspect, Joshua Roush, 43, of Malden, was found inside the residence and arrested after “special operations protocol and extensive communication were put in place,” officials said.

On Monday, Malden District Court Judge Emily Karstetter ordered Roush held without bail on a murder charge, officials said. Roush is due back in court on Sept. 29.
